A Prayer on Vocation

Faith and work are meant to go together. Take some time to pray for your vocation, and your attitude towards your vocation!

Our God who has created us, we thank you for entrusting us with important and meaningful vocations. Forgive us for belittling work, for finding work menial, and for taking our work lightly.

Change our view; help us see our work as a provision from you and a way to find a joyful reward in serving and caring for the needs of others.

If we have taken up work that serves us rather than your purposes, or have settled for work without listening for your call, forgive us.

May we listen carefully to your voice and find that place where our deep gladness and the world’s deep hunger meet.

We ask in the name of him who faithfully answered the call, Jesus, our Lord and our Savior. Amen.
